Exceedingly rarely but Yes, in emphatic or sometime tortuous passages, it helps sort out the ins and outs of what is being said or done.  Sort of a parsing exercise, maybe a virtual diagramming of the passage?

I think I read out loud once .... not intending to ... and the sound of my own voice startled me. :-)

I haven't read to anyone since my kids got old to read for themselves.  On the other hand, I do sing in the shower.  :-)

I read to my wife the other day, but only because she was busy doing something else and wanted to know what a certain article had to say.

When my husband got really ill before he passed away, I would read the newspaper to him .. at least the things I knew he was interested in.
