16 Books Being Turned Into Movies in 2019

Some of our favorite movies from last year were originally books — and 2019 looks like it's no different. Whether you've read these hardbacks ..

I've read four of them.  Not necessarily in hardback and most not recently.  Also probably not in the order listed.  I do know the Kristin Hannah book was recent; the others date back to when I was in highschool or at original publication dates...

Stephen King
       'Pet Sematary'
       'It'

Jack London
       Call of the Wild

Kristin Hannah
       'The Nightingale'

ETA:  I probably will not read the others on the list or see the movies, aside from those based on Stephen King and (maybe) Jack London.

I've only read the Stephen King books ... and seen the TV adaptions.

I liked both of them, but I won't be sitting in the theater watching a new version of either

I seldom go to the theater myself.  Would rather wait until I can get the DVD for a reasonable price.

I will do that if the movie is really what I want. Generally, I'd rather read than watch movies.  :-)

Yup. I can count on one hand the number of times (maybe twice) I've seen a movie that was better than the book used as the basis.  Most times, the opposite is true; either because Hollywood doesn't stick to the story or because they cut too much that was important.

or they hire actors / actresses who do not fit the characters in the book

IE ... hiring Tom Cruise to portray a 6' 4" ex-marine and weighing 250.  Cruise is like 5'6" and weight 150 lbs soaking wet

Tom Cruise could act his way into a naked convent, he has skills that compensate rather well for his otherwise smallish size.
