Standard Homeopathic Company is recalling all lots of Hyland's Baby Teething Tablets and Hyland's Baby Nighttime Teething Tablets sold in retail stores to the consumer level. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has concluded that the medicines have been found to contain inconsistent amounts of belladonna alkaloids that may differ from the calculated amount on the products' labels. FDA believes that belladonna represents a serious health hazard to children and that the effects of belladonna are unpredictable.

While teething CAN be painful., in most cases parents are medicating infants to make themselves feel better. Providing extra comfort is usually all that is necessary (yes, you're baby is going to still be sore and cry) I used this product a couple of times under the direction of a parent. It provided no comfort for the child and I replace the tablets with a bottle of cold milk and extra cuddles. That worked!

The company carries this statement and I honestly can hear their eyes roll! https://www.hylands.com/news/hylands-teething-recall.php

The FDA is looking at the amount of belladonna in the tablets, the deaths of ten infants who had in common the fact they were all using the tablets and is asking the public to exercise extreme caution and common sense. If you are not in the U.S. these products may still be available, please do not assume they are safe.
