I wonder if in my lifetime I'll hear the wonderful recording of Fred Neil Live At Cafe' au Go Go and Woodstock and Nashville I did with him and some of our friends. The tapes are being held hostage in France at Arny's Shack pending payment of a debt which was not mine. Now that there is interest enough to recover those monies the recording are still being held because of avarice and greed to encumber my entire archive of some 40 artists. Though not all recorded state of the art can be enhanced and enjoyed in both analogue and digital reformatting. This action is totally illegal but is happening even though attempts have been made to release the body of work with several companies who have passed because of the inaccessability of all of the tapes for inventory and inspections to determine the salvageabilty. Only MONO demos are made available long after all the deals have cooled and websites containing incorrect information and several mispellings of artists names plus illegal usage of Photos lifted from Rhino CD's without permissions. I have requested these errors be corrected more than 6 times and still nothing is done while my name and Cafe' au Go Go are used to this end causing me severe embarrassment and financial losses. On balance however I must admit the remixing and repairs of some of the work thus far is superior to most in the industry and for that Tony Arnold is to be commended, but 2 compilations (MONO) and i low band Umatic DVD and cleaning of the 5 hours of film is hardly justifiable cause to encumber the entire work for over 11 years. The work involved took a total of 7 weeks plus what little has been done since I rediscovered the location of the archive moved from Dorset, England to 17 miles South of Paris at Courthouse Facilities (AMPEX) aka Arnysshack. Just recently I have been promised the return of my Fred Neil material plus a DVD and a CD of my son's work when he was 4 years old as an offset to taking this valuable archive to be sold for studio costs of $15,000 to the highest bidder instead me enjoying licensing the material to the best vendor for this type of material and retain my rights as creator and producer. Im accused of having to big an ego as the basis for taking my lifes work from me and peddling it world wide in places where income is unaccountable like Japan, Brazil, England, which has been done to me by the people who brought my property to this studio for the work needed to distribute it through VideoArts (Japan)11 years ago and has never left their hands to my knowledge.
