In our house it's ketchup. Do you pronounce it the way you spell it?

depends:  I have used both more or less interchangeably:  ketchup and catsup.  I don't honestly think it makes a difference.  I thought you were asking me how I spell, the answer to which is very poorly.  Another response I have been known to give is "as seldom as possible."  What words do I have a problem with?  Almost all of them.  Thank goodness my wife is a good speller.

Ha! how often do you need to write the word "kaleidoscope"?

To help me with the word schedule, I kept writing it and writing it and writing it. I remember how to spell "vacuum" because it is the opposite of how I spell it, aka vaccum!

Mentally, I spell it 'ketchup' but when I write out a shopping list I use 'catsup' out of laziness.

It's origin is a 'pickled fish sauce'.

History
In the 17th century, the Chinese mixed a concoction of pickled fish and spices and called it
(in the Amoy dialect) kôe-chiap or kê-chiap, meaning the brine of pickled fish ( salmon, juice).

Good question.  I used to be a good speller.  Placed third in my school spelling bee in 8th grade.  Now, not so much.

Ketchup.

Let's see.  And I apologize if I don' spell them correctly:

Accomodate

Tariff

Lots of scientific and medical terms!

Thank goodness for spell check and the internet.
