Exciting game between Minnesota and New York to open their seasons. Pedro Ramos
was dominating through 5 and held a 3-0 lead. But in the 6th, Clete Boyer hit
a big 2 out 3 run HR to tie it, but the Twins retook a 3 run lead in the top of
the 7th. Killebrew's HR was key. After NY scored another run in the 8th, the
game was 6-4 Twins heading to the bottom of the 9th with Don Lee trying to nail
it down. But Yogi Berra led off with a HR to make it 6-5 and Minnesota brought
in Ray Moore for the save. Mickey Mantle was up to greet him and the roll: 66!
It's gone! Back to back HRs by the Bombers to tie the game! Maris, who had a 65
HR earlier in the game flew out to deep right for the first out. Moose Skowron
was next and he got a pitch in his wheelhouse and it's gone! WALK OFF HR!(66). NY
hits 3 homers in the bottom of the 9th to win it!

In a thrilling finish the New York Yankees won in dramatic fashion coming back
to beat the Minnesota Twins by the count of 7 to 6.

New York came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning with 3 runs on 3
base hits. Yogi Berra initiated the scoring when he blasted a solo shot.
Mickey Mantle stepped into the batter's box and he lofted a solo-blast
'downtown'. After an out was recorded, Bill Skowron stepped up to the plate
and he ripped a solo home run. New York managed 10 hits in their victory.

Luis Arroyo(1-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Ray
Moore(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 2 hits in 1/3
of an inning.

'Wow, that was fun!', Arroyo said following the game. 'Once in a while you
play a game that reminds you just why you got into this business to begin
with!'
