All Kent County, Maryland. All the time. A discussion of everything about our slice of paradise.
Add Crazy Days and Buy Boat week-end together... and Chestertown actually had some crowded sidewalks... on a Saturday afternoon... yesterday. It'll be interesting to hear from the Eastern Neck visitors today if they were participants.
OK - activity doesn't necessarily translate into economic development results... but it does tip the tourism scale portion of economic development. And... we're in a situation where every bit counts. And besides... some of these boaters are characters.
The troubling economic development news this summer is how badly our home sales have slumped and, at the same time, how low our inventory of homes on the market has slumped also at the end of June. The latter... maybe it means folks have settled here permanently. Also... the inventory isn't forming a sharp bell curve around the median and average prices. Note: the average price is being skewed by a few very high end homes that have sold. There is a slight bulge at the $200,000 to $300,000 range... but 26 homes in the $400,000 to $600,000 range. This is a bell cow that might have already come home to roost.

Well, it was a slow day at EN yesterday, but loaded with interesting folks, which led to some very diverse discussions. These are the kind of days where having more time to engage visitors is lots of fun.
