If there is 'absolutely no doubt' that the person did it I'm ok with it, but also in that case it shouldn't be dragged out for years and years and years.

To me life in prison is what amounts to cruel and unusual punishment.

I'm leaning the same way.

It doesn't help the family of a loved one to seek revenge. The best way is to forgive.

It doesn't deter murder and horrific crimes.

The problem is there will most likely be doubt in some cases.

I used to support it for the most heinous crimes but have changed my mind.

Where there is doubt then no.

My problems with life in prison are...

Prison can be a living torture chamber, either by guards, other inmates or both. Is that really more humane/moral?

The other is being essentially caged for life and here again is that any more moral or humane than a swift execution?

I'm not saying no one belongs in prison and if the convicted really wanted to live out what passes for a life that way...well then their choice. However, if they opted for death that should be an option that is available as well and not be drug out by third parties filling appeals against it.

I can understand if this is what they want.
