This made me tear up. They posted it with the caption "Mission accomplished."

I teared up, too.  He was only with Pres Bush since July so I wonder what his future holds.  Most of the Bush family loves dogs but I wonder if he’ll be placed with another vet?

He's going to Walter Reed's dog program at the military hospital. :)

Bush's Service Dog to Assist Wounded Soldiers

Sunday night, the Bush family's spokesman, Jim McGrath, tweeted a photo of George H.W. Bush's service dog, Sully, lying in front of the 41st president's casket with the caption 'Mission complete.'

That is Bush’s service dog?  That poor poor baby.

Not to be rude, but why would someone his be need a service dog?  Wouldn’t he have people around him at all times?  He was not very mobile or healthy?  Or was the dog more for comfort?

Yes...Sully, he will be with Pres throughout the funeral.  They just showed him at the disembarking from AF 41 Special.
