Gun Violence in America

Hosted by Cstar1

Americans' obsession with guns are killing us. Other countries don't have this problem, why do we insist on clinging to 19th century justice and neanderthal attitudes?

The discussion must absolutely include the police.  I think that most of the time law enforcement does a pretty good job in tough circumstances.  Unfortunately events brought to light by "Black Lives Matter" spotlight policing that is no more excusable than shooting up a school.  Police must pay attention to black and other citizens who are too often assumed to be criminals because of their race or neighborhood.  If they do not the belief that police in general are corrupt and racist will become the norm in America. At the same time those who distrust police have an interest in seeing police forces that do not make split second decisions based on stereotypes. That will require face to face, reasonable discussion.

And too often are gunned down because of those prejudices, rather than because they're real threats. How many cases of this have there been in the last 2 years? I've lost count, but there were at least 2 just in the last month.
