I am always leery of horses that run huge in the slop, but Trophy Chaser opened some eyes in his second start at 6f at Gulfstream on August 25th. On a sealed track, he dominated seven other rivals by almost 16 lengths, completed the run in 1:09.50, earning a 96 beyer. The Twirling Candy colt, out of a Successful Appeal mare, was second in his debut, a 4.5f sprint run in average time. I anxiously await his next start on a dry surface, to get a better read on him.

He is trained by Juan Avila, and sports a dosage of {25} DP = 3-1-4-0-0 (8) DI = 3.00   CD = 0.88. Not exactly a blueblood, but good horses can come from anywhere.
