It was with sadness that I learned this morning of the passing of Marshall Cassidy, the former race caller of NYRA who had the binoculars & the mic from 1979 until 1990.
Those of us who go back that far in the sport & played the NYRA circuit regularly had a high appreciation or Mr. Cassidy's work. His accuracy & wonderful delivery added to one's race watching and even helped people to pick up the important nuances of what they were looking at.
I didn't know him personally but I had a few friends at the track who did & they reported he was an even better person than a caller.
RIP Marshall Cassidy
