Sole Volente had pretty nice numbers.....then you find out from jockey that horse just wasn't getting hold of the track there.
This year, since I cannot see these things in the absence of videos, etc. .... guessing game.
I think the mares give a lot of stamina in the Belmont horses.

Yeah it’s always good to look at the bottom, and sometimes you have to if there’s no clear aptitudinal (hope I’m using that right lol) direction on the sire’s side. Rombauer for example has no chefs until you get to Giant’s Causeway, three generations back in the bmsireline so I would assume he can probably run classic distances unless he shows otherwise. I still look at pedigrees but I’ve pretty much gotten to where I hardly even look at the dosage figures anymore though. I think it just hit me one day that just because there aren’t a lot of chef’s in a pedigree doesn’t necessarily make it sub-par; it might just mean that the stallions there throw runners good at all distances and not just one or two.

Look at the Pedigree Chart to see if any of The Sires Could be a Chef in your opinion.
In Rombauer case Like Candy Ride, or a case could be made for Candy Girl to be a Reines
Mare. also the Argentina in the pedigree. I make the judgement that the DP is misleading
and this isn't a sprinter and he has a strong Stamina Cmp On the Mares in the pedigree.
You made a good case highlighting Giants Causeway's placement.
I haven't updated the Cmp's yet: this is from pedigree query site for Rombauer..
Conduit Mare Profile = 4-3-6-8-8 Speed = 7 Stamina = 16 Index = 0.57 Triads = 13-17-22
Speed + Stamina = Balance.

Easier said than done lol.

No doubt he has stamina. His running style may or may not undo that part though.

That's a great observation, esp. with Giant's Causeways.

And there is bottom of pedigree as opposed to "horse has bottom" meaning that which was instilled by trainer by works and races to obtain a fit horse who is distance-capable.. i.e. starting them out at 6F and slowly increasing their distances, over time, and putting hearty gallops and works into them. This is the problem I have with RYW....and some of the Pletchers (but he somehow manages to pull it off with sub-par training) and of course, the problem I have with the complete black-out of digital info on the horses who are already on the ground at BEL race track......and so many of these are not even prepping there. I just cannot imagine prepping at another racetrack since BEL is such a different track than most. Who is getting over the track there real well, anyone working bullets, how do their feet look sinking into that big sandy.......which may be "groomed' into a fast track for BEL day by the track maintenance crews anyway?
WHO KNOWS.

I suggest if you love elite Horseracing for 3 year olds in May carrying 126 pounds
watch the replay of the Japanese Derby 12f on Turf from Last Night 5/30/21 with
a field of 17 with outstanding Historical pedigrees drug free with the 12f winning time in
2:22 and change ,I can say its the best 3 yr. old grade 1 race 3 yr olds carrying 126 in
May in my memory. Last place (17th) 3 yr old time was 2:24 and change.
What are these 3 yr olds going to look like in the fall ?
