What was even better, a longshot ran 2nd so the $2 exacta paid over $900.......another homebred by Mastercraftsman out of a South American dam (CHI) bred by Haras Don Alberto (I always pay attention to his horses and breeding---esp. since he was the very first owner of a Frankel colt , and after he bought Vinery and started purchasing mares to breed to Frankel........those mares produced the first 10 Frankels in the Southern Hemisphere). Many were not aware of him til he burst onto the US scene but they've been breeding in Chile for a long time.........he leased some pretty remarkable stallions like Mastercraftmen, Dylan Thomas(IRE), Proud Citizen, Rock of Gilbraltor, Bluegrass Cat, Fusahichi Pegasus, Henrythenavigator, etc. to breed with them) Guy knows what he's doing ---- He's got well over 100 broodmares at this point. (He's got Dacita and Salty, too.)
Some people like Shirreffs and McCarthy are obviously starting to "get it" with the breeding, training for owners who are going to South America and Germany for "drug free" breeding stock.
I know a couple of owners and trainers are going in that direction, and I have those listed in my virtual stable. Holding on to these homebreds who have stamina and haven't been shot up with PEDs in their genetics.
Some of the U.S. "win early and retire at 3" breeders: "Take note" LOL

While the winner ran a great race, there were quite a few horses in the race that didn't get to do their best running. My pick, Say The Word(no surprise there), never got a chance to run until the contest was decided. The jock seemed to be loaded, but his decision to save ground, always a double edged sword, had him up on heel throughout the stretch. He should get one more shot at a BC prep. I hope he gets a chance to fire his best shot.

Perfect Grace did win impressively, but for a debuting juvy to run the fastest race at the distance of three, in hand, winning by 8, I have to give KP the gold star!

Brad Cox unleashed a Pioneerof the nile juvy named Matareya at Ellis this past weekend. The Godolphin owned fllly is out of a Bernardini mare. She covered the 6.5f on dirt, in 1:15 4/5, winning in gate to wire fashion.

Thanks, yes I saw that and a good mover.
Another one ran at Woodbine on turf that made me eyes bulge.
I forgot her name, I'll have to look it up. Both are on the list.
That didn't take long Cardio Princess (JPN) check that pedigree
Casse trained, Gary Barber bought out of Japan.
News feed says he won at Saratoga, that's wrong.

On Saturday, one of those MTR fillies I was raving about(Plus Chic), will run in the Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes. She is moving from the grass to the AW, and stretching out from 5 to 7f. Hopefully she can win this and move on to the BC!

I love to keep up with the fillies. They don't get nearly enough press. Averly Jane has a pretty impressive resume already, and not many people know of her. The Midshipman filly, out of a Richter Scale mare, is bred for speed, and she has certainly showed it so far for Wesley Ward. She is a multiple stakes winner already.
Another who is more obscure as she debuted at Colonial Downs, is Hidden Connection, by Connect, out of an Awesome Again mare. She is also very fast, but is more likely to stretch out successfully, in my opinion. She is trained by Brett Calhoun.

I have both Fillies on the list, Remember Wes Ward doesn't have many 2 yr olds
that will stretch out to be gr 1 types, If he gets one and hypes it don't discount it,
He is a very good Horseman and knows what he has.
