I struggle with this every day. The young generation is not a deep one. Too many are superficial and self absorbed. They believe they are entitled, and are not crazy about working to hard for anything. They have little appreciation for the past struggles, that led to life they now know.

The ones I coach, are unfamiliar with the greats of earlier eras. They want to be given credit for moderate success, even though they only put in moderate effort. Horse racing is one of those sports, that I don't think you can develop that real love, without some appreciation of its history. Too many of these young people believe that something only has value when they become aware of it.

Even when it comes to morality, I find too many of them satisfied with what is called "virtue signaling". They talk a good game, using sophisticated jargon, but are unwilling to put it in the human investment; the blood, sweat, and tears, required to effect action and change. Therefore, the difficulties they ultimately face, tend to be too much for them. 

I don't want to to be too general. I meet some very wonderful youngsters, but I find too many as I've described. I don't blame them, I blame us; the generation that came before, that in many cases tried to save the the challenges we faced growing up. That is a mistake. Those challenges were the exercise that strengthened our intellectual and psychological muscles. Anyway, let me get off my soapbox. I had a recent experience that has made me a bit touchy in this regard!

The young relatives are into Media games and Gambling on Media sports

and some are betting on the spreads  in sports and Prop bets and seem to like

that as being excited and not into Horses, The exception to that are the young

who grew up with Horse's thru those in the industry and/or Horse players. 

The winner is playing catchup after missing his last entry from spiking a fever.

I like Raes analysis of the race and the Gallop out.  and I agree with what you said.

His last 1/16 pulling away like that suggest he is going to like 2 turns. imo.

I like his Sires and Chefs CD scoring suggesting classic distance   CD = 0.59 .

with the Elite Tail female families in his pedigree and he has to prove that on

the track.

That's a good point, Owners shipping else where.

He might be a one turn specialist, see if he can stretch out and Mandella

won't push him if he doesn't belong on the first Saturday in May packing 126 Lbs.

I have discovered the same thing with a few 14 and 15 year old's that I'm around

and Like you I blame us and that paragraph too. including your recent experience and 

in my case I was late paying attention to the new jargon and the meaning !

and the big changes made in their trials and tribulations to the pandemic.

We are the ones who handed out the “participation trophies”.You reap what you sow,I guess.

I am done with all the woke language. They think they are the first generation to become aware of discrimination or bias. I have learned not to live in my feelings anymore. That’s all they seem to do!
