Seems like everyone had some fun with this last year, so let's do it again. DogsUp captured the first Triple Crown Draft competition last year with selections of Medina Spirit and Essential Quality. (FWIW, Dogs wins even with the eventual DQ of Medina Spirit).

Triple Crown Draft 2022

Rules:

You are picking four horses for the entire Triple Crown series. Each horse can only be picked once.

No substitutions or swapping out of horses can be made unless there is an injury, a scratch, or a horse is officially taken off the Triple Crown trail prior to racing in at least one of the races (once a horse races, it is locked in and cannot be replaced).

Note you don't have to pick from just likely Derby runners. You can select a horse that might be specifically targeting the Preakness or Belmont.

The draft will be a snake format (person who picks last in a round picks first in the next round and the draft continues in reverse order from there). I will use a number generator on Google to get the order. Participants will have 12 hours to make their pick before being skipped. If you miss your 12 hour window, you may post your pick at any time.

Tiebreaker will be the combined $2 WPS parimutuel payoff of the tied participants' four draft picks throughout the TC races.

In the event of a dead heat, runners that finish in a dead heat will each get the full points for the spot they were jointly placed in.

Scoring for all three Triple Crown races is as follows:

1st: 10

2nd: 4

3rd: 2

4th: 1

If you are interested, just leave a comment here.

Goal is to begin Monday, April 25 at noon.

Draft Order

Round 1:

1.1: princeofdoc - Smile Happy

1.2: Oldbettowin - Messier

1.3: Pianot - White Abarrio

1.4: Chiefs - Zozos

As defending champion, and yes, regardless of after race substantial conundrums...the whole purpose of ticket construction is that the windows cash as soon as the race is posted Official.

Place all your bets on 1 ticket. Be sure to not get short changed by the cashier.

I'm all in  (d)

Hey Cubs, i was entered last year (3rd place i think) would'nt mind doing it again this year even though it seems like a tougher group to pick from.

Currently at 5 participants.

If anyone else wants to join, please post here by noon central time this Sunday, April 24. I will then put together the draft order ahead of the start on Monday at noon.

Highly unlikely, yet this crop has a lot of evenly matched factors.

Dead Heat; suggest equal amount of points to that finishing place.

California Chrome DH for 4th in Belmont.

Sure, I'll add it to the rules above. Runners that finish in a dead heat will each get the full points for the spot they were jointly placed in.
