I get it...its where the horses come onto the track..

But they should parade in front of the grandstand with lead pony on inside..imo.  Anything less is the "shaft".

They spend too much time "at the gate" seems to me.

I've commented on this for years, mostly because I'm used to hong kong, japan, australia where the cameras are super good defintion and fans get to see quite a lot of the horses (all the way down to feet w/out the annoying popups and banners and boxes telling you what the talking heads like that are somehow place on screen in the US to cover up the parts of the horses you need to see!)

That's how we do it for every race at Woodbine.  The post parade goes from the 1/8 pole to the finish with the ponies on the inside so the horses are not obstructed for the fans in the stands and watching on TV.
