Excellent news. Uniform medication/drug rules and regulations are going into effect on May 22. Texas judge denies NHPBA claims.

Texas judge did his state's industry a favor as clearly they were cutting off their noses to spite their faces:

“We obviously want to get the races out to as many people as we can. Unfortunately, this is a complicated, multi-pronged issue. It's not as cut and dried as many people make it out to be.”
Translation: There are many, many fingers in the pie and no one wants to lose their stake. It's all about the money.

Texas handle is down over 90%. I should hope so. Even the pigeons at the track know their feed is off.

This is from the HISA list of controlled but allowable medications on the HISA site:
C **Furosemide Diuretic Lasix, Salix Shall not be administered within 4 hours prior to PostTime 100 ng/mL in serum or plasma AND urine S.G. < 1.010
Lasix is going to be allowed in all jurisdictions that presently allow it because there is an exception for the remainder of 2023 to jurisdictions that applied for it and HISA has been rubber stamping. I think HISA knows bluntly pulling lasix with so many horses dependent on it would cripple the sport.
If you're interested to view the controlled substances: [furosemide is on pg, 13]

In a sport that has more than it's fair share of cheaters cheating this is a necessary and vital step, IMO. The horses' welfare must be priority number one.

and 2 weeks later, he's officially out. No surprise.

Rudolph's statement was very ill-conceived. That winning somehow makes up for horse deaths and cheating.
Downright dumb, IMO. So, no real surprise for me, either. Walking it back didn't help.
Here's some more news on HISA and Churchill. HISA and CDI both sound right on top of it. The more on top of it they are, the less likely the anti-racing folks can gain more traction. They need to run safely, though, like right now.
