Unfortunately we won't be covering it in person this year (due to "reasons")... but here are the early odds:

Thanks, Tex.  I hope the Japanese entries makes some noise this year.  Cafe Pharoah 14/1 early.

Overlay.  Might be worth a couple bucks if he stays above 10/1.  Could actually drift higher if the two chalks keep taking money.

Appreciate  ur insight always. I've hit my head  on japanese entries  on these big races more than I can say. Maybe this year, who knows.

As you well know, one good hit on a horse that is priced right makes up for quite a few swings and misses.

I would say Cafe Pharoah is coming in live.  But it has to be a price play of 10/1 or higher.  Otherwise, I just watch.

I've passed some winners over the years from insisting on my price but I have saved much more than I would have won.  That's when I was betting daily.

LOL.  I am very, very semi-retired now with horseplaying.  Period.

Thanks for posting up the field, Tex.   HUGE POOLS.

Apparently the HKJK will host the wagering pools races 3-8 giving bettors access to the largest international comingled pools in the world.

Interesting to see Chantal Sutherland riding a few on the undercard.

Moira is a genius for sure, but he's never ridden Cafe before

I'll just root for anything LeMaire rides, as well as Yuga Kawada, Moira, and Barzelona

Here's our article covering the draw and like you said it's an HKJC World Pool event so everybody is betting into the same pool (unlike most major foreign races where Hong Kong residents bet into a separate HKJC run pool that isn't combined with the host track).

Based on my Pedigreestar analysis Winner can emerge from following

1) No 7 Panthalassa

2) No 10 Taiba

3) No 11 Vin De Garde

Mike Smith mount will be the favourite but my first choice is French Jockey Mickael Barzalona and Japanese Trainer Hideaki Fujiwara combination. 4 yr old Crown Pride should place in first four.
