Top Japanese sire, Hearts Cry, has passed. 22 years old. (Yoshida was one of his offspring)

He beat Deep Impact in the Arima Kinen and won wire-to-wire in the Dubai Sheema Classic.

But this is his most remembered race.  The King George at Ascot in 2006.  (same race that greats Galileo, Dylan Thomas, Swain, Enable(x3), Shergar, Nijinski, Mill Reef, Montjeu, Highland Reel,et al. have  won---but Hearts Cry didn't win this----the famous stretch duel coming up!)  Unforgettable: (yellow jacket) Lemaire riding.  One of the most exciting stretch runs to see.  Many have said that Frankel could not have beat this group:

Sorry to learn of Hearts Cry passing.  Such a wonderful horse and influence down the line.

I am not one of the many, though, despite the exciting stretch run and finish in the Ascot race who thinks Frankel would not prevail over that excellent group.  Of course, none of us can say with certainty.

In the Kinen, Hearts Cry looked unbeatable on the day.  Was really turning over his stridein the final section to dominate the field.

Thanks for the clips, WT.
