The more I look at this wager, and the projected odds, the more I think this is actually a better expenditure of money than trying to spread all over the place exotic in the Derby. It doesn't work every year where there is a very clear *true favorite* in one or the other races, but that really isn't true this year.

I'm sort of following your thinking (I think) but what is the truth this year? That we have deserving favorites that are going to win?

I usually bet the entries that ran and won at Parx. But there are no such entries this year.
Probably do an a,b,c,d/a,b DD to get a price
Oaks: Botanical, Gambling Girl, Flying Connection, Mimi Kakushi
Derby: ???, ???
May-1
Oaks: Botanical/Wet Paint
Derby: Mage/Forte/Angel of Empire/Two Phil's/Derma Sotogake/King Russell
With the tumultuous occurrences at CD, I’m adding King Russell to my Derby horses!

Good luck Raesfan... I will have those two fillies and three of the colts, so maybe we will both have the double.

For your gambling dollar, the truth is that this year the derby/oaks double may be the best way to spend it. Put 2 chalks and 2 viable longshots or semi-longhots into your double, or, take who you think is the best out of each running style (4 horses in each tier 4x4). I think that's $16 for each $1 4x4.

I have lost out when I was too cautious with Derby and very, very certain on Oak winner.
Example-- Was sure about Serengeti Empress and Max Security, bet just those two and Empress won but we know what happened to Max. Something that NEVER HAPPENS! ARRGGHHH.
Example-- Was pretty sure about Secret Oath last year, but given how I got burned on Max, I was going to go All on Derby entries but then, natch, unchecked a couple I thought had no chance.... including winner, lol. So I guess it is better to spread your net wide in Derby rather than lose out because your horse runs into traffic or gets bumped off stride.
