I don't give picks ahead of time for undercard, as I watch the post parades and then put my wagers together, while ripping my hair out.  
So I have to redboard my almost $3K win just now.

I just stacked a 0.50 trifecta and lucked out i guess.  But the workouts and past races told the story and I took a chance on Rivelli's 38-1 horse. 

Needless to say I really don't need Derby bankroll at this point. 

But this happens to me every year though.  I lose the Derby, and then make bank on the undercard races.  

I'm very happy.  Have lots of dental bills to pay this year.

I just took a risk.  
the favorite was the #4 Rosario on a Clemente horse. #11 was the 2nd favorite.  So I moved those into 2nd place on my ticket. 

I dunno why nobody used the #2.....top level euro sprinter last year, but Killer good Caravel beat in last at KEEN so everyone got off Ward's Go Bears Go. 

You have to re-arrange the horses sometimes against the parimutuel pool beliefs to make money in this game.

I played that race, had the 1 circled, but keyed the 11.....certainly should have backwheeled him, paid 500-1.

LOVED your reasoning for the construction.  Now use your same skills for the Derby!

I haven't been posting undercard picks either.....but I just noticed that in the American Turf, Prat is on an 18-1 shot.....he's won this race the last two years, albeit on 5-1 shots.

I wanted to say, that's the right idea.  You are never "playing with the house's money", it's always YOUR money, you earned it.  When my job pays me I don't say "I'm playing with my employer's money"...

Makes me laugh whenever somebody claims to have won $500 or $1000 at the slots... I'll say "OK how much have you lost over the past few years to 'win' that $1000?" and the grin on their faces is quickly wiped out...
