Final PPs not out yet.
Problem: Seems as though about 1/2 to 1/4 of the horses who were in the Preakness Future Wager that ran April 28th to May 6th are not even listed as probables yet? If true, this seems like a massive cash grab by Pimlico, since bettors are not refunded if their selection does not run in the Preakness, which is limited to a maximum of 14 starters.
Then after the Derby, when the future wagers had already closed, Cox seemed to say none of his would go in the Preakness , but was still deliberating.
From early Bris PPs:
Mage
Arabian Lion
Disarm
First Mission
Henry Q
National Treasure
Red Route One
Perform
Confidence Game
Chase the Chaos
Blazing Sevens
Il Miracolo
Combined with the official Preakness Future Wager (who they had listed in the official Preakness Future Wager who are not listed above):
Instant Coffee
Tapit Trice
Two Phil's - not going
Verifying
Sun Thunder
Skinner
Rocket Can
Reincarnate
Raise Cain
Mandarin Hero
Practical Move
Lord Miles
Kingsbarns
Jaces Road
Forte
Hit Show
Derma Sotogake
Cyclone Mischief
Continuar
Angel of Empire

Wouldn't this just mean a higher payoff for the winning horse, or if the winner wasn't in the pool, for the mutuel field of all other 3-year-olds?

I Think Lord Miles is skipping the Preakness and going to the Belmont
I'll Be surprised if Red Route One races here.

I figured the race would get about 8 contenders after reading about who all won't go or who are in other races instead. SAD!
While I don't consider this race worth playing, and it seems that connections/owners/trainers don't think it's worth running.
Must be nice to turn down that kinda purse money like it's nothing to them, eh? !!!!!
I was reading another post elsewhere and it certainly does seem strange that nobody is willing to do what Snow Chief did;
Angel of Empire is no Prairie Bayou, Timber Country, Point Given or Hansel, you'd think he would be trying to clear his name from Derby Favorite after only running 3rd in the Derby;
And Rocket Can and Hit Show aren't willing to take that huge purse money like Risen Star, Oxbow, Shackleford or War of Will?
Also surprised the Japanese aren't trying this race for the purse money? At least they'd get more practice in US Racing?
Ah well, it's easy to see who to toss here. One trainer has almost all but admitted that his owner just wanted good seats and party invite for he and his buds. What's ironic about this is that 6 horses from the same race he was in have won the preakness in the last 40 years. Although 40 years is a long time.

I would always want the Derby winner to win The Preakness. I hit this race only twice even though the interest for me was low. Once with Shackleford (Derby pick) and again with a straight exacta American Pharoah over Tale of Verve (a closing bomb - hey, I took a shot). Looking back, I should have included a 1-2-all tri if I had a bomb firmly for 2nd place. Oh well. If Red Route One gets in, then a straight exacta Mage over Red Route One in hoping for a coronation possibility along with some kind of payout. And the all button for the bottom of the tri this time around.
Good luck all! And congrats to all the Mage backers!

Normally it is the KD winner coming back. When it has been a closer, often it is not. This year I don't think you can count on Mage being a closer as he has proven he is versatile can run on the lead or off the pace, setting him up well for the Preakness. Don't see any in it that will challenge him. Scary is BB can be BB in there. I don't normally bet much other than a straight small ticket and see betting less this year a lot due to the BB factor. Hoping Disarm passes as I thought he was pointing to BEL but if runs in there, I'd say not. Tesio runners are always good for hitting the board.

Yep, gotta agree with you on the number of derby horses not showing up for the Preakness. I really thought a minimum of 5 to show up. Mage a definate along with thinking Confidence Game, Hit Show, Cyclone Mischief and Continuar would be entrants.
Oh well...probably just play a tri/box of Mage, Blazing Sevens and First Mission.

Boy, what an anemic field for an American Classic. National Treasure is getting blinks.

Anyone that doesn't believe this is Baffert, I'm gonna make a point weekend I can't help. He is back in lime light.

Beta Bob. LOL.
Beta, Chad and Cox - all untrustworthy in my book.
Why did all the Kentucky Derby horses decide "NO" ???
