Heads up. That leaves us with 9 horses.
Last year had 8 and the exactly paid less than $14.

That's a shame. I really liked him as the bomb. And this is exactly why I root for the Derby winner to win the Preakness. Now there is hardly any interest other than looking at it as a regular race from a betting point of view.

Personally, I really couldn't rely on Pletcher to properly condition a MAIDEN horse who he had only really considered "at the last minute". His last race was a maiden and he ran so green, pretty much caused a domino effect when he shifted outward.....that's a horse who was running extremely *GREEN*. Pedigree was nice but horses have to be conditioned properly to run 1-1/2 miles......this one was going into the Belmont "on a wing and a prayer" IMHO.
At this point the race is more like an every day race, and I'm getting the feeling it's going to be rather ...... chalky. Chalky in the respect that the odds on horses in an 11 field that is now going down to 9 is going to be very different than my original thoughts.
