So here we go again with this... He's long overdue to get the same punishment Dutrow got.

One thing I think we can be pretty sure of. CDI, may decide to add on to its KD ban. So far, it's only next year.

Another Baffert 2 year old died as a result of injuries sustained on August 26th.This guy should not be left anywhere near horses

Fully agree. One of my friends sent me a copy of the full necropsy report of Havnameltdown. All 4 legs bone on bone. It's a frightening read. The horse was a physical wreck. The poor horse even had a huge infestation of worms. That is neglect, plain and simple.
It was part of a long tweet. My friend said she would send it to me once it's digitized and I'll be able to share it here.
What I read was appalling.

I am trying to figure out who is worse;Baffert or the morons who keep sending him horses

Any vet working for Baffert better be careful...

Merrily and very profitably treating horses and not doing record keeping, not establishing valid client/vet relationships, pushing the envelope in as many directions as possible...in the Beta Bob spider web.
Corrupt vets are to be held in contempt. I'm sure these 4 are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg when one telescopes out and views the national scene.
Once again the horses get the shortest end of the stick, followed by the bettors and fans of the horses and the sport.

As well as the jockeys who risk life and limb riding horses who have had IA injections, not enough time off before racing again.
We're back to the days when MLB and NFL players were given kertolac and other pain numbing meds, as well as more modern injectibles which "kept t
I know a lot about Synovisc since I have OA and Chrondomalcia of knees. OA isn't just wear-and-tear, although it's naive to think that athletes don't end up with stuff like this. Horses and humans. (mine is combo of age, too many hours in the gym, playing raquetball, tennis, and a very athletic 20s-30s-40s lifestyle, etc. ) but it's actually whole-joint disease with quite a large number of pathologies (many are not even fully understaood). The main feature of OA is pain, but generally, it is also not totally "curable". However, while there is still articular cartilage covering the bones you dont yet have bone on bone so synovisc (called Hyvisc for equines) though both are hydrolaunic acid. Nevertheless, articular cartilage heals poorly and therefore, is most often a permanent problem that has to be "managed".
However, if any joint disease progresses to "bone on bone" then joint replacement is the customary and ONLY solution. Viscosupplementation will not alleviate or cure "bone on bone".
I get tired of hearing "but it was legal". I think 14 days out from an IA joint injection to racetrack is ludicrous. I hope more conservative timeframes are instituted. Horses' legs running on dirt (esp. when rolled hard and fast as in the big races) are subjected to huge pressures and load.
