That is more of a Baffert move. I bad mouth TAP for many things, but one thing is I don't think he will play those games to keep others out. A few years ago I remember him scratching one of his early enough so an AE could get in. I think he mad the comment about not wanting to do that to someone else.
Those in the sire future, looks like possible ten for the field if I got them right, with three more on the outside looking in.:
|J Boys Echo||Mineshaft|
|State of Honor||ToHonorandServe|
|Fast and Accurate||Hansen|
|Battle of Midway||SmartStrike|
|Lookin At Lee||LookingatLucky|
Really only one that I am liking to have a chance off this list. I am afraid he may become a wise guy horse and get over bet, hence I will not mention the horses name.
For the most part, MRPs get their derby winners early. Crops by D/P/B winners:
1st: 4-2-3 Grindstone; Funny Cide; Street Sense; Mine That Bird; Hansel; Funny Cide; Hansel; Summer Bird; Palace Malice
2nd: 4-5-4 War Emblem, Smarty Jones; I'll Have Another; American Pharoah; Point Given; War Emblem; Smarty Jones; I'll Have Another; American Pharoah; Lemon Drop Kid; Point Given; Ruler On Ice; American Pharoah
3rd: 2-2-2 Thunder Gulch; Real Quiet; Real Quiet; Afleet Alex; Thunder Gulch; Afleet Alex
4th: 0-1-3 Exaggerator; Conquistador Cielo; Editor's Note; Birdstone
5th: 1-2-1 Unbridled; Timber Country; Red Bullet; Victory Gallop
7th: 0-2-0 Tanks Prospect; Curlin
8th: 0-0-2 Empire Maker; Drosselmeyer
9th: 0-0-1 Commendable
10th: 0-1-0 Lookin At Lucky
13th: 0-0-1 Jazil
22nd: 1-0-0 Fusaichi Pegasus
1st: Cloud Computing, Always Dreaming
3rd: Lookin At Lee
4th: Classic Empire
5th: Hence, Irish War Cry
17th: Battalion Runner; Battle Of Midway
API, ND & SC for the derby should be easy to figure. They have picked up their game after leaving CD.
Just more junk.
Mario Gutierrez confirmed to ride Irap
That is understandable, often, especially with a high profile stallion, they will get their best mares in their first year. I remember Bernardinis first 3yo crop, they were everywhere and winning everything early on, just like UM last year. Both tailed off from an explosive first year. I want to say something about another first yearer this year, but do not want it to bite me, so I will refrain..
Wynn's Las Vegas Current Kentucky Derby Odds Monday 4/17
The field currently has only one runner with an LP of 100+ (Gunnevera). Lots of horses backing up in front of him, I hope they use their turn signals.
LOL. Turn signals and brake lights!
I go to DRF and pull up the Derby Points.
Mont Saint Legame was the first horse to acrue "derby points"......he has 40 and is nominated.
Why is everyone leaving him out?
Like Lani, he is the Cattle Sho winner.
FWIW, DRF doesn't even make *mention* of any of the Japan horses in their derby points list. it's like foreign horses with points don't even *exist*.
Didn't Epicharis earn a "guaranteed" spot?
I understand that the Japan Road is separate from the regular Road to the Derby, but the Cattle Sho awarded 40 points to winner and the Hyacinth awarded 50 points to that winner. Right? Both those races qualify as an "in" ?
EDIT: oh wait. Just read on Cindy's page http://www.horse-races.net/library/derby17-points.htm
JAPAN ROAD TO DERBY
D'oh. I'm an idiot. I had no idea they weren't going til just now LOL
