Me thinks,  handicap races prove beyond reasonable doubt,  the greatness of a horse.

Just read a piece about Arrogate.  Undoubtedly, he is superb, wonder horse.  But to say he doesn't need to carry weight,  just run faster, robs the sport of the real accomplishments of horse super stardom.

Me thinks.

So what is the alternative to prove your point?  His connections should skip the Pegasus and World Cup to compete in the Donn, Santa Anita Handicap or Gold Cup?  Good luck with that.

Should Bob keep him in training and he manages to sweep the Classic, Pegasus and World Cup--again--, I doubt the absence of a handicap race on his resume will affect his place in racing history.  But then again, I'm sure if he did compete in a handicap and win giving up 20 or so pounds to the field, articles would surely follow about 'who did he beat?'

I wholly agree...
