Three year old Dual Oaks winning filly, Enable, trained by John Gosden, put a hurting on her competition as she handled the boggy going & pulled away in the straight to win the King George VI & Qu. Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. Punched her ticket to The Arc barring the unforeseen.
Worth a look:
Superb performance again from the wonder filly. Not a bad performance by Highland Reel back in 4th as the going did not suit him
True for Highland Reel. He's tough as they come & extra tough when the going is rated Good or Good To Firm or Firm. His past performances have all the evidence one would need to see that.
Plus, he is a traveler. Wins in Hong Kong, Arlington, Santa Anita with creditable performances in Australia & Dubai. Not to mention the wins in the UK. Such a nice horse.
It might be hope against hope if Enable wins the Arc but I'd love to see her continue on for a 4 year old season.
Agree completely Steve.Would be great to see her back next year
Would also look forward to Winter in the Arc
Enable made short work of her (overmatched) rivals in the Darley Irish Oaks. Her stamina is remarkable. John Gosden, who's had more than a couple excellent fillies, says she's the best he's ever had.
Here's yesterday's race in which Enable leads gate to wire. Frankie along for the ride but I think she races with such purpose on her own that we could switch Frankie out for a couple of sacks of rocks. :)
