Too bad for Hugh.   Winx has won with others up.  She could probably win with a 125 pound sack of potatoes on her back.

On the other side of the coin, we all know it's horse racing so anything can happen.  Any rider with half a brain would simply let her run her race.

I'm guessing you saw this update but just in case...

Waller rethinks the schedule to assure that Bowman will be up for her debut this season without disrupting the big picture for Winx.

Thank you. Saw Waller’s courteous letter about 5 minutes ago. I know she could run with us riding her, but i do felt a bit relieved Hugh has the mount

Nancy,  maybe you could with your skills but I'd be airborne on the first jump.  I could barely handle a sedate old Morgan mare when I was cajoled into trying to ride years ago.  :)

I'm relieved, as well.  Better safe than sorry, as they say.

Our girl ill have an "exhibition run with Bowman and a camera as a different aspect to engage her fams on Apollo Day. They will see her after all, just not in the previously targeted race

Good idea.  Waller is tuned in to the fans.  He realizes he's handling a once in a lifetime horse & he understands the deep connection & love for Winx the fans share.

These are indelible memories for horse lovers.  I know that from my own experience.  I can call forth a completely tangible memory of meeting Seattle Slew (my fav on the race course & thereafter) in the early morning at Three Chimneys & the chills I felt as he breathed down on me.  Wow.  :)

It's too bad, IMO, that racing seems to think it's a good idea to highlight lifestyle, celebrity, food & drink when the horse is the fundamental attraction for all of us.  Personally, I can't watch any of the crap that passes for coverage.  Maybe it's me who's out of sync & everyone is digging on the hats...

Win-win!

Fans win & Winx wins an excellent conditioning session.
