No spectators for 2020 Saratoga NYRA summer leg.Purses will be reduced.
Surprisingly
In 2019, all-source handle. at Saratoga was a record $705,343,949. On track, the handle was $146,618,750
Local economy will take a hit.

Specious reasoning, Dogs.....if ANY horse comes in 2nd in the Travers or Haskell, he'll be in the gate. If those other horses cannot beat Uncle Chuck as he tries to qualify, then they don't deserve the gate. I have no idea if he'll qualify, but I doubt he'll make it without another good showing in a prep.

I think the horses should wear masks. Should be noted in the PP's with the addition of blinkers. New angle; first time masks.

I'm not entirely sure that the regular citizens in SAR would be excited to have thousands of people come in from LI and Downstate during a pandemic where those particular places had / have high numbers of infection, but you're right, the locals that rely on live crowds will not prosper.

People visit the area for concert series, Lake George, amusement parks, shopping, dining..yes take a big hit..and yes, people visit from all over, many states for weeks.
Locals rent their homes for the whole meet. There is a camping site where the kids stay and the camp site runs buses to and return from the concerts. Pricy hotels. Many locals even use their front yards for parking. I had planned for a few days. But would motel away from epi center.
Days past, my kids would go to swim, fun park. The Holiday Inn wasn't too pricy and talked with trainers that stayed there.

Right it is an invitational race the Haskell. Also wonder what connections are feeling about setting out in 2020 with their Derby campaign and points needed. Then things went upside down.
"Specious" Dogs had to look the word up. My note says depending on runners in ensuing point races maybe even 8 colts could knock out some of the lower existing point holders among the present 20 as there are many with the same about number of points at bottom of the ladder.

Smarty, Horses get temperature checks in the gate prior to start of race....
