If anything it shows how badly skewed the prep series is.  You need to win two 50-point preps or one 100-point prep, anything less and you're probably on the bubble to get in.   The owners knew this all along.  So there was little incentive to move to new trainers right away.  And as I said before, if your horse stinks in the big final preps and doesn't get in, *shrug* he probably wasn't good enough/ready to win the Roses anyway so you hold off till the Preakness, Belmont, Travers, BC...

Wondering aloud (and we'll get the answer in about 48 hours...) how many ex-Baffert horses will suddenly appear in Pool 5 of the Future Wager which opens this Friday...  remember, Baffert horses are all "mutuel field" horses in pools 1-4.  As long as they're with a new trainer by now they qualify to be separate betting interests.    Suddenly everybody who's bet heavily on the field in pools 1-4 is feeling pretty confident....

Which other horses are you anticipating will be announced as moving to other barns?  I can't think of any with a Derby chance....maybe Newgrange?

I noticed CD postponed this weekends Future.  Wonder if the new BBs were a big influence on that.  Can't think of any other reason.

They did did they, all part of the field in all pools. Punish Baffert  or punish the Cappers or punish the Baffert cappers

or its good to be the King !

yes, postponed to next week (it will run Thursday to Saturday) ...   I think the new prep race schedule had more to do with it, with three 100-pt preps on April 2 (5 weeks out) and the other 3 on the 9th (4 weeks out).  In the past the final preps were 4 and 3 weeks...  everything's shifted back a week.

I think most have been running at four weeks out for a handful of years.  Only Ark Derby was the last one to run three weeks out recently.  Lexington gone from 2 to 3 since BG moved.   If they go by the norm, hopefully the pool ends at six and the preps are ran after that.  They did that in 2014, closing at 6 and the San Felipe ran after close  where CC I believe was around 20-1 and probably would have been fav if ran before.  I hate liking a horse that runs on a future weekend, either they tank or get bet down depending on the result.

You'll get your wish.  So it will close before the Wood.

The field of 24 betting interests will be announced Tuesday. The three-day pool will run April 7-9 and close prior to the first Road to the Kentucky Derby Championship Series race that Saturday afternoon (time to be announced). Races scheduled to be run that day are the Wood Memorial, Blue Grass and Santa Anita Derby.

Just to put a cherry on top of the Beta Bob saga.  His final appeal to stay his suspension was denied and it will begin on 4/4/22.

Good.   I also notice how the court took their time and made their ruling at the last minute... so the lawyers wouldn't have time to appeal to a higher court (not that this would ever make it to the Supreme...)

The best sentence (from the BH article) is this one:
the granting of stays for suspended trainers is not automatic as a matter of law despite the practice having been followed on multiple occasions.

So this judge admits this has been going on too long that trainers assume the courts will save them... but not anymore.  That practice is over.

Do the crime do the time... as it should be.  If Richard Dutrow can be handed down a 10 year suspension AND IS SERVING IT, surely Baffert can sit out a measly 3 months.  (Dutrow's 10 years end next year, curious to see if he makes a comeback)
