Mattress Mac must have a large bankroll to lose $10mil and probably not blink an eye. I thought he took the Bengals w/the pts (+4) which if my math is correct he won his bet?
Better luck next year!!!
My wife had the Chrome/Curve exacta that year....betting angle.....she used CC & CC for a $2 dinero exacta! Go figure.
I like Hot Rod in the Dubai World Cup. Think he gets the lead and its over.

Mattress Mac is not simply a gambler; he's a businessman, and quite successful. He offered any customers who purchased mattresses over 3K during the 2 wk period leading up to the SB their money back should the Bengals win. Thus, though he lost the 9.5 million bet, he did over 20 million in revenue during that period, with 70% coming in as brand new customers.
He's been doing that for years in baseball and other sports.....he's hedging, in actuality, and it's been very good for business.

Mattresses offer one of the best profit margins in retail. While some grocery store chains might earn a 5 percent profit margin, mattresses have a markup in the 40 to 50 percent range, according to Consumer Reports. According to one study, a $3,000 mattress might only cost $300 to manufacture — a 900 percent markup. (From a study)
His track record in sports is losing bets.
He lost his real own personal reportable income money. And not tax deductible. (Signer requirements)
The Fungible notion is a rationale that his personal profit was made at a very high markup vs cost of goods.
Anybody can spend money.

"inched closer outside of rivals around the far turn before floating four wide entering the lane, but came up empty thereafter.
SlOW DOWN ANDY, in his next, will have Douggie putting anti-floating blinkers on.
Team S D Andy had a meeting prior to race to determine if the lack of blinkers would Slow Down Andy.
In prior; raced greeny, appeared distracted by noise or visual impact.
Seemed to float-step then as well.
Say; Give him credit for mental accuteness for his tourist view in his race surroundings, yet goggles in next should make him all business and there he can gauk. Maybe take the shadow roll off.
