I think its ironic that before this race the Big Boys from the U.S. were expected to do something... yet Equibase is "allergic" to putting up a chart for a race where almost 30% of the horses in the race were U.S. horses.

Just like they are allergic to putting up any information at all about any foreign horse running in the Derby in the PPs.

Racing in the big races is international now.   Even our own Derby.  They need a person at Equibase with their own department, who can rustle up the information for the customers, and Equibase in 2022 desperately needs to recognize the inclusiveness of horses from all over and have a section for this now.  Its like putting out a catalog of Product and leaving out 30% of your inventory. In 2022.

Meanwhile, other than Saez and Pratt, we did horrible for that entire series, probably should have stayed home----and I have to go to the foreign sites to even get the semblance of a race chart because I was not able to watch those races that day.

PP Chart makers have never had the ambition to attempt to convert foreign PPs into some practical semblance of review; save a bold face number or two. Probably because the can't.

Come Derby homework week it's like reading and calculating US runners in English and race number mathamatics; then one has to figure in why a sheik entered 2 horses;  flew them in, separate airplanes, last minute and little quarantine time.

There were 2 as such described in Bird's Derby. Dogs was a lost puppy.

Then there's a Derby/ Daddy Long Legs type.

A toss. Out of the gate colt decided he would not have me worry from gate to running last.

Derby ticket construction should have at least 6 beat-me tosses.

14 field.

But the KDy out-of-towners as 3 yr olds paper work for PPs really ruins the making and baking of the ticket recipe.

The greatest 2 minutes is when the Dogger says this is it!  This is the final ticket construction. No changes, no rearranges, no detours.

I do like a horse being scratched that's a don't like him in; what if I leave him out.

Happened in Chrome Derby. Qustionable-iffy horse I stuck in scratched real late. Luck had it then that the one I drew in from the beat-me-s ran 2nd.

Can't remember the Derby colt shipped in from ?. Ran lousey in KDy.

Went home and ran the board.

Hoofnote: Baff is still at it to BE the trainer of record in the Roses review.

It's PATHETIC that Equibase does not have a chart for this race.  No excuses, 30% of the horses were from the U.S. in the race.   I didn't get to watch it, I just wanna read a chart about the darn race.

Some sites foreign horse stuff  FYI.

Dogs only evesdrops the 2 big foreign races. Foreign horses in KDy and Breeders C.

In a nut shell,  US data PP Result chart companies do not chart foreign is that they would have to keep All the data, all of the time to then automatically migrate the info to new PPs or chart results.

A full US chart is available about less than an hour following a race.

For the most part this is migrated info to the standardized Chart.

Equibase doesn't do traditional charts for foreign tracks.  Why the PP lines for those races just give the final running time, where the horse placed, beaten lengths, and maybe a short running comment (similar to if not identical to what you see on Racing Post result charts). Because that's all that most tracks outside North America supply.

To post a full Equibase style chart would require fractional times being taken AND 1-a chartcaller measuring the beaten lengths at each point of call (as is done at most North American tracks) 2-A digital horse-tracking system like Trakus or TPD that does this automatically to generate the chart (used by NYRA, Woodbine, Churchill Downs, Santa Anita...)

Tracks that use Trakus or similar systems MIGHT post race charts using that data, that simulate what Equibase does - Hong Kong does this, and sometimes Dubai.

If you've never seen the raw TPD data before, this is a real eyeopener:

http://www.gmaxequine.com/tpd/public/sectionalsframe.aspx?ShareCode=81202202261722&k={83F76141-4793-4825-ACDA-C8D1B88B272B}

Play around with the "Choose Data" menu on the bottom.  The arrows next to the fractional times across the top, will sort the field for you in order of what data you chose -- so you could see (for example) which horse was the fastest in MPH over each 1/16 mile segment of the race.    If you choose Cumulative time, then you're seeing each horse's times along the way, not just the leader.

To date estimate the Derby line will look like this barring any under the radar in 100 pointers.

To date belive an owner, trainer or jockey believes their colt Didn't getta-lot out of the race.

As The Derb provides 110 + change@ 6, 135-tickish @ mile. Gotta be around at 148+ 9fl.

A pop-in like Kdy Bodemeister late comer would take some attention.

Jockey race the overlooked up in the irons Plavin Prat.

Blue Plate Blueboard special: M/L + Off fav., add late jockey swap- switch for voo-doo calculation in Fountain of Youds Tri paid over $2,000.

Horses not nominated to Kdy during the early phase can be made with a $6,000 late payment due by Monday, March 28. There were nine late nominations last year.

Dec-2

On December 2, 2021 Dogs dropped some dog cookies as Follows. Said:

My crystal dog bowl has me thinking:

Goldolphin

Doug O'Neill colt

And scrutiny of a colt that will emerge on the radar list due to the inheritance of a colt that Baffert forfeited.

Long shot jockey Kent D.

And a Japanese entry.

---------------------

Well, here's the BOGO Free to the Goldolphin  + Japanese predict. Pretty sure the G-peeps can rustle up 6K.
