Gotcha oh Queen of the Mile!
Lani was one rare horse where we knew from the connections he was a head case.
So if now a horse loves the Belmont course surface; that makes it a Sandy.
Great off spring of Candy ride; a Candy
Ah WTH
Horse that is always DNF and pulls up a Vandy

Last race he ran was Arkie Derby 25 days ago and came in 4th. He beat Kavod and Ben Diesel, 2 horses who have never won a graded stakes race. He ran 4th in the San Vincente at SA and beat Happy Jack, another horse who has never won a graded stakes race and has only won a maiden.
Doppelganger, still a "Baffert 3rd string" to me ......and after the Pat Day Mile that's a sealed deal.
Maybe they should target a different kinda race for him. longer distance or something. Belmont? LOnger distance is where I give many horses a break since we all know there just aren't many carded here at all so we miss a lot of horses who "look like they aren't great" but really are.
Solomini was a good horse but one that Bafffert screwed up and was moved to Asmussen; people don't look at al l the ones Baffert screwed up because those barns are so large.

After watching Doppelganger run mediocre in the Pat Day, I downgraded Messier and Taiba; I eliminated them from all my tickets but one. Either Yakteen is not adept at preparing 3 year olds for CD the first Saturday of May, or the west coast crop were all overrated, I don't know.....but I did adjust after that race. Baffert's other horses that went Dubai also did poorly.....I mentioned in an earlier post that his very expensive colts did more poorly than in any other year.

Maybe because Bob is under the microscope he wasn't allowed to administer "stuff" to his horses. Usually his horses do well when travelling outside of SA. Now it makes me wonder if American Pharoah was really that good.

I’ve wondered the same thing before but my opinion is that Pharoah was special regardless of his trainer, just from watching him run. Maybe not TC special though and I think Justify was pretty much a lab experiment.

I saw Pharoah last workout before the Derby. He was good, what impressed me the most was how quiet he ran compared to other horses

That was good handicapping on your part, oberservation is everything.
I had left Messier on my ticket because I thought it would rain. I would still include on a ticket in the future if a track comes up slop. I think he will be very good on slop, its just that he does seem to get intimidated by alpha type horses so there's that.
FWIW, I did not wager the KY Derby this year, I capped it and "gave my ticket" to participate in the social aspect and historical participation on this race with all of you wonderful people. Paper transferring of horses doesn't sit right with me, so I was boycotting the race.
