Dear politically correct, godless, liberals who are genuinely offended at the sight of the Christ child in a manger, I have GREAT news for you! The next time you see Him, he won't be in a manger! Sadly, if you can't handle His first appearance, you're REALLY not going to like His second appearance.

Stop, Drop, and Roll won't work in Hell.

bob>Peter didn't need an interpreter, it seems to me there are   kinds of tongues. The kind Peter had which this could have been the only time it occurred, Paul speaks of a "closet" tongue where he does it in private and has no idea what was said. And Paul also speaks of the kind that should be done when an interpreter is there to tell what was said. Paul also says that the followers do not, did not get all the gifts as the apostles did/had. Some followers have the gift of healing, some teaching, some preaching, some tongues, some interpretation and so on. together the followers for the "Body of Christ" and together they have all the gifts. I have attended a Church of God where they had tongues in every service as a group type of singing ad someone would at the end interpret. They also taught that everyone should and is to speak in tongues and they held classes for those who wished to learn. They start off saying to sort of hum and over time you will get the gift.

phesians:  4;10

10He who descended is the very one who ascended above all the heavens, in order to fill all things. 11And it was He who gave someto be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors andteachers, 12to equip the saints for works of ministry, to build up the body of Christ,

I believe the Gift of Tongues is indeed still in operation in the Body of Christ today.

I am a former Pentecostal/Charismatic, and I used to speak in tongues a lot. I have not felt the need or inspiration to do so in many years, though.

I no longer believe that speaking in tongues is the "outward physical sign" of the "Baptism in the Holy Spirit". Neither do I believe in a "second definite work of Grace that is subsequent to and in addition to salvation" called "the Baptism in the Holy Spirit" in which the believer is empowered with Spiritual Gifts.

The scriptures teach that we all get the Holy Spirit and are "Baptized in the Spirit" at the moment of salvation, and that ALL born again believers have Spiritual Gifts.

Tongues should be used sparingly, and if it is used in a church service, there should be an Interpretation offered as well.

Otherwise it is out of order.

bob>I think Paul was saying "some get the gift to preach, some teach, some heal, some miracles, some tongues, some interpret. The apostles got the "Full Measure" of the Holy Spirit, which means all the gifts. What do you think?

Tongues should be used sparingly, and if it is used in a church service, there should be an Interpretation offered as well.

Otherwise it is out of order.

bob>I joined a church where tongues were a main part of their service, everyone in the church was to speak in tongues at the same time and then one or two would stand up and give the interpretation. I think some get tongues, not everyone and it's not a requirement of salvation.
