Hi, been perusing the posts and have found myself back here 3 times today alone, so I figured I would introduce myself. I, too, am a euro-mutt, but was adopted by a Lakota/Abenaki elder about half my life ago. I am attempting now to learn the Lakota language, do beadwork (non-traditional styles), enjoy powwows, and arguing ndn rights with just about anyone who will listen. The East is a hard place to be native ( even adopted ) because so many people have the idea that ndns are extinct! I am glad that this forum is here, because I have learned a lot in the short time that I have been visiting. Pilamaya.

Hey Judy:
Welcome, I'm glad your here. We always need more people to speak for ndn issues. This forum was created to voice and stand for these issues. Angel's, exact words were, "to set the record straight."
You are a welcome addition. Hey if you ask me, adopted is being. Just don't say your native by oh...sorry Angel, had o say it. I'll explain it to you later Judy. Just duck if Angel throws a pot at me.

Okey... I give up... I am really a man dressing as a woman... hey wait... wrong forum... hahahaha

My name is Keely, I was born into my tribe, the Loyal Shawnee, I am enrolled in my tribe. (I feel like the loner out here being enrolled) I am a Indian artist and beader so by federal law I must be enrolled if I want to sell my work as Indian made...

The Loyal Shawnee were the last to be removed from Ohio. They were first put in what is now the present Kansas City, Kansas area... then later removed to the NE part of Oklahoma... they were made a part of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, so my card at this time is issued out of the CNO but does show me as a Shawnee... My tribe is in the process of separation.. the Lenape separated from the CNO about three years ago...

I am married to a white guy whos Indian name is "One Who Glows In The Dark" he is accepted by my people and my family.

I have four kids, one pug (who is not good at protection so...) we have a guard dog (German Shepard) and two cats :o)

I might not agree with you all the time, but it wont mean I dont like you... I like everyone generally... as long as they are honest with me...

I am sorry.......I have to ask...
I don't know if I'm supposed to or not... but you can tell me to ferget it if im not... BUT...

How in the world did your husband get that name?????????????

And how old are your kids? I have two toddlers (2&3) both boys. I want to get them a dog one day, preferably when we get out of this place and get a yard. Is the shepard good with kids? Cause I was leaning towards a lab/mix but I heard that sheps are very good with kids too.

My kids are 22, 19, 16 and 14... two boys and two girls.. the oldest is married and has a son of her own... So I long passed the toddler stage :o)

How did my husband get that name... well... he is white, and he is easy to find when it is dark out.....

Sherards seem good with kids, but can be very protective.. if I were you, I would stick with a trusty Lab.. I think they are great dogs for kids.

Ahh, Ok Thanks! I'll stick with the lab. Protective is good, but since they are so young, I worry.

Oh, About your husbands name, I just had this "neon" type image in my head when I read it. Thats why I had to ask. I just couldnt shake the image.
