Another Columbus Day parade and protest in Denver

American Indian activists and Italian descendants are getting ready for another Columbus Day parade and protest in Denver.
The annual parade has long been a source of contention. Indian activists say people shouldn't be celebrating a man whose expedition to the Americas led to the genocide of indigenous people.
Recent Haskell Indian Nations University graduate Cricket Gates and her husband are headed to Denver to take part in the All Nations, Four Directions March today. Gates says Columbus' arrival brought disease, slaughter and a host of other problems.
But someone who has participated in protests in the past won't be there. Controversial University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill, under fire for allegedly faking his Indian heritage and academic work, says he doesn't want to distract from the issue of ending the Columbus Day parade
