Is this saying the majority are now voting to cut funding to CNO?

Those ignorant, smug and trifling motherf*ckers.

If this goes through, the legal precedence will be set to override any sovereign indigenous nation's right to self-determination. And it'll be used exactly that way. You watch.

I'm sure the pseudo-anti-racists will then wallow in their self-pleasured glee over it.

Sickening.

Yup. That's what it is saying. I already wrote my rep and told her I was disspointed. Who the crap do they think they are telling the CNO who is Cherokee?

So, my representatives Abercrombie and Hirono voted yea - the voted TO cut funding????  Hawaii's congressional representatives have this kind of narrow vision, and they're representing a culturally and racially diverse state?  Thanks for the link - they'll be hearing from me.  I voted for Mr. Abercrombie (I'm not in Ms. Hirono's district), and have voted for him for years.  I expect better of him.

My representatives heard from me via e-mail.  Looks to me as if they're attempting to force the Cherokee Nation to change it's decision regarding the status of the Freedmen.  That's blackmail.

Whether the rest of us agree with the decision or not, it's none of our business; it's the Cherokee Nation's business.  Doesn't the Nation's status as a nation dictate that the US federal government must "butt out" so to speak in matters like this?  Maybe I don't know anything, but that's how it appears to me.

You know, if I were in the Cherokee Nation, or on a Navajo reservation, or on Pine Ridge property, I would expect that I would have to abide by their laws and rules.  I'm not real knowledgable about these matters, but I have been operating under the assumption that if I were in Indian country (reservation, nation), that I would have left US Federal jurisdiction and be subject to the jurisdiction of whatever nation/reservation I were in/on.
