HI,

I was adopted, but found my birthmother, her grandfather was full cherokee, I am having a terrible time finding their registration anywhere.  For my kids I'd love to prove our heritage.  Any ideas?  My son seems to think there is a DNA test that will identify our region of heritage.  I'd appreciate any help to happily become a member of this nation!

J

Have you searched the Dawes Rolls?  If not, do a google search on "Dawes Rolls;" there are many sites that will help you.

Cyndi's List is also an excellent resource for researching genealogy and history.  The link is http://www.cyndislist.com/.  Cyndi's list also has an entire section devoted to Native American resources.  The link to that section is http://www.cyndislist.com/native.htm.

RootsWeb is another excellent resource.  It's web address is www.rootsweb.com. One of the very useful sections of RootsWeb is the message board section.  They have message boards on surnames, states and ethnic groups, including Native Americans, just to name a few.  I have gotten alot of help and information by posting queries on different message boards.

Also, do a google search on "Pitter Seabaugh" and scroll through the items (there are lots of them) this search brings up.  She has done a substantial amount of research on the Cherokee and genealogy.

You're in for a fascinating journey.

Aloha, Jeanne

Good evening,  poster...

But,  please accept my belated apology,  because I mistakenly referred to this forum as being dormant,  when I had been referring to another one instead...

These are good people...

It's just that good people also have their share of bad misunderstands too...

Otherwise good luck with your search!

FYI...

Take care...

Later...

Peace...
