This is a poem I wrote for my Great-Grandmother. She is Lenape and was born 1853 in the Lower Saucon Valley, Bucks County,PA. Went to the Creator March 1936
Life Circles
Time moves forward and back again
Old times remembered and welcomed
into the heart.
Grandmother, what hard times came
to tear your family circle?
Removed you were by land and time.
The thoughts and blood grown dim.
The memories of family and valley
home, Great-river valley, seen as
reflections in your childrens' eyes.
Grandchildren listened to your
stories of Witches Head and fish
camp fires, years ago, years ago.
And still the circle remains unmended
until we here are warmly greeted at
the Old Ones welcome fire, with the
People seated 'round.
