Re: second rate people
Why did they leave where they were? Were the people there first rate people? Why do they come here? Are conditions better … first rate? They passed through a lot of other countries to get here but did not stay in any of them.
Yes, they are escaping second rate conditions to come here. These are not the best of their people, are they?
Yes, they are second rate people trying to improve their condition Like many of our ancestors. How many people will the life boat hold?
(edited to add …)
Have you lived in a southern state where there a lot of these people try to keep out? They are notable. Cheap bars that barely pass health standards. Spray paint on the walls and fences. Yes, we want to limit the second rate class of these people. Others that come in properly bring us nice Mexican restaurants, respectable businesses and educated citizens. It is not the country. It is the class of people.

I absolutely agree this is a horrible thing to happen to D Tenderage. Who was the perpetrator? Are these the people we are trying to keep out? Why would a mother bring her child into the country through the gutter and subject her child to this treatment. We have a proper procedure for applying for asylum. It is not just showing up at the door step.

Usually because they fear for their lives in their home countries.

Actually, that's exactly what the procedure is. You cannot apply for asylum remotely, or through an embassy or consulate. You have to be physically present in the U.S. to apply for asylum.

1/ We obtained police reports and call logs from more than two-thirds of the shelters housing immigrant children. In the following tweets, we’ll share some of the most disturbing records we found. https://t.co/dDaZdF2Jpx

For those who are currently outside the United States, they should apply for refugee status.
This is the first choice. If they came through other countries to get here, stay in those other countries. Why come to the US? Coming in by the thousands overloads our system. Trump is BADLY trying to respond to the overload. You do understand we have a problem processing hundreds per day.
You did not respond to my comment about who the perp was on D Youngstuff. This is the type of people we are trying to keep out. Opening our borders to everybody lets this trash through.
Yes, separating the kids from their parents presents problems. So does putting them in tent cities in bad weather. It is a bad situation with no good remedies. There would be problems no matter what Trump did or if he did nothing. The kids had better care than if they were out on the road in the weather.
