The article gives more info than that though. Lead levels in children have dropped over the last twenty years and
"he says that shifts in how the state measures educational assessment -- and a district that has struggled for decades -- are both significant factors in the recent test scores."
The district needs help regardless, but knowing your child's lead levels are lower than your own may have been at that age is probably something of a relief.

Two-location water drive planned in Flint

Rep. tells Congress that man died after exposure to Flint water
After the city of Flint changed its water source from Detroit's water system to Flint River in 2014 to cut costs, Joseph began to develop rashes and bacteria that ate away at his flesh, forcing him to tape his skin together on his face and on his back with Band-Aids.

State says Flint's water system can't function properly without new meters
"Without this additional revenue, the city will be unable to hire the proper staffing to reliably treat the purchased Great Lakes Water Authority water ... and monitor/maintain water quality in the distribution system," the letter from DEQ Division Director Eric Oswald says.

Attorneys say two charged with Flint water crimes did their jobs
