Yes, they are second rate people

Ranking humans is a great way to rationalize abuse. Civilizations have done so going back centuries. Seems we all are doomed to repeat our past as we humans don;t seem to learn from it.

The government is absolutely right in creating policy, having that policy passed and following it. Creating situations where those that fall under that policy become victims is not an acceptable byproduct.

Why would a mother bring her child into the country through the gutter and subject her child to this treatment.

Sadly many countries wrongly believe that "America" is a sanctuary and that all people are treated humanly.

One might ask... Hasn't the word gotten out about what WILL happen should you risk it?  Probably yes, but given the choice to remain where they are or risk the "rumors" they are obviously not choosing the first.

Yes, the problems you point out are real. Is the solution to just let everybody in with no vetting? How long does it take to process 1,000 families? What do you do with the children in the mean time.

Don't just complain about the situation. Suggest a solution.

Trump is BADLY trying to respond to the overload. You do understand we have a problem processing hundreds per day.

I agree with both statements, although I might use the word poorly instead of badly. (bolding was mine)

Your second sentence is the real root of the problem. And it's not just the U.S. that needs to develop better strategies but all the countries that are dealing with asylum seekers.

I work with children from Syria, seeing how well these kids have done is encouraging. I've not treated them any different from the kids born in Canada or those that came here through "proper" channels. I've also not asked their mothers if the risks were worth it? Or did they lose anyone along the way? Or how could they subject their children to the horrors of fleeing in a leaking boat? And I won't, no more than I would ask them what was it like to live in hell, in constant fear, how many people did you lose in your own country? Or are you Syria's "best" and If not, please tell me why we should allow you to seek a better life here for your children?

I'm funny that way, I know there are not second rate humans, there are only second rate situations, living conditions and opportunities.
