Based on Malachi 3:16-18 I believe the Lord will harken to us as we consider his word together.

Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

Luke 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while He opened to us the Scriptures?

Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures,

Please note, the resurrected Jesus did not give his disciples any revelations apart from the Scriptures. He did not give them private information not written in Moses, and all the prophets.

What He did do was expound, or open up, and explain all the things in the Scriptures concerning Himself. He opened to them what is written in the Scriptures. Then he opened their understanding, to comprehend the Scriptures. This is what Christ is doing today, returning His people to the Scriptures. We reject traditions, myths, and any superstition. We care only for the Scriptures and Christ Himself whom is ministered to us through the Scriptures.

The Scriptures, the written word, is the Bible we hold in our hand. This book is full of life, full of light, and full of the life supply.

Add this verse to that procession of events:  Luke 24:28-29  And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.  But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.

Notice that there is something remarkable in the following two verses.

Luke 24:30  And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
Luke 24:31  And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

They did not fully identify Him before the moment that He blessed and broke the bread.

But there was a unique way that He had in blessing and breaking the bread that they had only seen being done by ONE person, HIM.

Therefore, when they saw Him bless and break the bread in the same unique way, they immediately recognized Who He was.

There is STILL a unique way in which He blesses and breaks the bread of Life to us today, through which we can identify that it is Him doing it.

But it takes time for us to be in His presence and to become accustomed to His mannerisms, and through THAT, we can positively identify that it is Him doing it.

But it will only be seen by those who have spent the requisite time in His presence, and those who are willing to pay the price of staying in His presence UNTIL.

It is not a price that is paid for salvation, THAT price has already been paid.

It is a price of remaining in His presence as we die out to the old man of sin, and take His mannerisms upon us so completely that they become our mannerisms, instinctively and automatically, by the power of His Spirit dwelling within us, conforming us to Himself.

By THIS we can begin to more fully enjoy, every moment of every day, our relationship with Him, and enter into the joy of the Bride and the Bridegroom.

Thanks James, that is very immediate and relevant comfort and exhortation to me.
