Popular baby brand Skip Hop has announced a recall of about 130,000 nightlight soothers due to electric shock hazard. The company warns that the USB wall adapter can break when unplugged, causing danger for children and parents. At least one incident of electric shock has been reported to Skip Hop as a result of the power adapter breaking.

The affected nightlights were sold at popular retailers nationwide including Babies R Us, Buy Buy Baby and Target - as well as online at Skiphop.com and Amazon.com - from July 2016 through August 2017 for approximately $40. The Moonlight & Melodies soothers came in owl and elephant models and played melodies and nature sounds while projecting images.

Consumers who have purchased this soother should immediately stop using it and contact Skip Hop for instructions on returning the USB wall power adapter. They will be sent a free repair kit that includes a new USB wall adapter.

Consumers can contact Skip Hop at 888-282-4674 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or by emailing at recall@skiphop.com. For more information about the recall, go here.
