When you first open the Ghostly Chest (Level 69), the Side Quests will continue until Arabella's quest to craft the Monster of the Dawn & Pendant of Sympathy. When you click "OK" on that quest, the side quests temporarily go away. There will be 2 more times that the GAME will require you to craft the Keys of Fate (one as an item required to open the Cargo Hold for Skull Pete, and the second time to open the Ghostly Chest again). At each of those sections, the Side Quests will once again be available for you to collect Destiny Keys. 

I failed to document at what point the Side Quests go away during Level 70 (to open the Cargo Hold for Skull Pete). But at Level 71 (when they again return for you to open the Ghostly Chest for Lord Chamberlain), they continue until you add the final item to the Ocean Guide and set the ship sailing. From this point forward (until you reach max level), the Side Quests will return VERY BRIEFLY when content was updated originally. (They will show over the characters heads when you reach the point where players received the message that they needed to wait for the next update….and go away as soon as you click to accept the first character quest of the newly released content.) When you reach max level, they return for you to continue doing them for as long as you want – they are never-ending, and they do not advance you in the game. 

So, if you want to continue to collect Destiny Keys, you must not go beyond/click "OK" for the new content. You would just basically put your Prof. Pinfeather quests on hold and continue with the Side Quests until you gathered as many Destiny Keys as you want. Likewise, for the other 2 requests to craft the Keys of Fate prior to this last one, you would just not click on the "OK" for the quest in which it is requested. 

When you are actually doing the Side Quests, you will want to find all the characters offering them and accept them all before actually doing any of them. There is some overlapping and you can use it to your benefit. Sometimes, 2 characters will say to go to the Mirror Obelisk, for instance. Going there one time can fulfill that request for both characters. If one character asks for, say, Strong Hands from the Mirror Obelisk and another character is sending you to that ZZ – again, going there one time will fulfill the requirement for both. However, if one character asks for Strong Hands and another asks for Moon Shine (both in the Mirror Obelisk), you will need to go to it two times to get the two different items. 

Regardless of whether you continue Side Quests now, or if you proceed with the Prof. Pinfeathers quests to advance in the game, you will want to gather at least 200 more Destiny Keys so you can open the Ghostly Chest an additional 4 times to get the 4 Exclusive, Level 69 pets. 

If, after unlocking the Ghostly Chest for the 5000 coins, you use the “i” to see what is inside, you will see the Portal Activator (which is the item you get when the game first sends you to the Chest) and you will see the Rainbow Dragon. If you then used the “i” to look inside the Chest immediately after getting the Portal Activator, you would see only the Rainbow Dragon. 

If you have sufficient Destiny Keys collected to craft the Keys of Fate (or if you want to spend 5 diamonds for each Destiny Key you are missing), you can secure this pet now. However, if you did not get more than the required 50 Destiny Keys to open the Ghostly Chest for the Portal Activator – the Side Quests are no longer available for you to pursue this avenue after the aforementioned quests for Arabella. You will need to wait until the GAME again asks for the Keys of Fate for the Side Quests to become available. 

After you get the Rainbow Dragon from the Chest, if you used the “i” to look inside, you would see the remaining 3 pets: Fire Dragon, Sea Serpent, Woolly-Paw and a 5-bag bundle of Exclusive pet food. And, of course, if you looked in the Ghostly Chest after accepting the quest to open the Ghostly Chest a final time for the game (from Lord Chamberlain at Level 71), you would also see the Ocean Guide in the chest along with the pets and food (if you have not already secured them). 

Please be advised that some players have received the Exclusive Pet Food bundle instead of a pet when going back to the Chest. It is all random and dumb luck. In any case, you would not need to go back to the Chest to get the Exclusive Pet Food. Once you secure your first Exclusive pet, their pet food begins to drop randomly when completing an HOS like the regular pet food.
