Oops! Just realised it should be Whitby! But, that’s poetic license for you!

Sun 31st - Macaroons

PTG, the picture you posted for May 31st is of macarons - not macaroons. These are two different type of cookies.

A macaron specifically refers to a meringue-based cookie made with almond flour, egg whites, and granulated and powdered sugar, then filled with buttercream, ganache, or fruit curd.

In contrast, the word macaroon is a generic phrase that is applied to a number of small, sweet confections. Mostly, the term is equated with the moist and dense coconut macaroon, which is composed of egg whites, sugar, and dried coconut, often piped with a star-shaped tip, and sometimes dipped in chocolate.

Thanks, for educating me today. I didn’t know about Loomis. What a wonderful invention.

I could have done with sunscreen today. I was out gardening. Beautiful day. Husband pointed out my red arms. After sun cream with Aloe Vera gel very nice.

This happened last year.

It's probably best we don't revisit Macaroongate.

Unfortunately I think we've all said this in the last few months...………………..sign of the times.

Now that you mention it, I do recall that. I didn't do the research, but I think maybe macaroons may be an American thing. To be honest, I had never heard of macarons until a few years ago. And when I first saw the word I thought someone had misspelled "macaroons." Typical American, right? LOL
