Hi guys,

I'd like you to know that I will take my wish list down for a while. Can't say when and for how long but my cancer has come up with some more nasty surprises.

CT revealed some more metastasis in some vertebras (among other things). Was supposed to get radio therapy from this week on but on Friday a neurologist advised me to have surgery on one. That one doesn't give me any trouble but he said there is a risk that it might break which then might result in paralysis. As it is right above that part of my spine which is already stiffened it can't share any stress or shock along the spine but is particularily exposed. I could do just radio therapy but there is a risk... For the surgery I will have to go to the same hospital as before and I do have an appointment there on Wednesday.

Was a bit of a shock but by Saturday I had calmed down and was planning ahead. Just that over the week-end a different vertebra started to give me trouble. That one is in no danger of breaking and had just been a bit sore occasionally but by late Sunday evening I didn't manage to get out of bed. Took a double dose of my pain meds but might have swallowed smarties for all the good that did me. (Resorted to an empty bottle of coke and towel to empty my bladder - fortunately that went well.) Now on Monday a friend gave me one of her oxys and so I was able to get up and shower. Later my GP will come round. Tomorrow I have my regular infusion at my oncologist and Wdnesday it is the hospital. They may keep me or they may not. They also might recommend surgery or not and schedule it for ???

Anyway, I'll play from home, I'll play in hospital outside ICU as they have a decent connection.

Btw. I have no pain at all when lying down, am ok when sitting or standing, walking with a rollator also works. Bending is the problem. Getting out of bed requires as much careful negotiation of movements as diffusing a bomb. Crap!

Nona it saddens me to hear this. I will be praying for a complete recovery. Take it easy, your friends will still be there for you.

If you don't mind I would like to move this to Messages From the Heart if that is okay with you. Your friends will still get the message that you are taking your wish list down.

Nona, I am very sorry to hear of your latest flare-up.  Sending good wishes for the best outcome.  And if strength in numbers helps any, this forum certainly does have the numbers that translate into many, many voices.  Wishing you only the best.

Ah Nona, this is NOT good news.  In fact, your word was perfect - CRAP!  You know you have the prayers of all of us.  I hope you can get the oxy.  My pain mgmt dr. won't prescribe it, but my brother in a different state has oxycontin and of course he swears by it.  It is, though, for very intense pain, and is quite addictive.  You are going to beat this.  You have a positive attitude and a wonderful spirit.
