Dhyani and my 12 other Castles will be on a BREAK for a week or more.

Dad's behavior and mental status is frightening and it's pissing me off :)

I may be able to get in once/day (maybe not) and IF I do, I'm trying to help several Friends who are/have been too ill to play get their new Fall Pets. One of my Friends who is severely ill has EIGHT Castles.  My plate is FULL!!!

So once again . . .

TO MY EVENT FRIENDS . . .

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GIFTS!!!!!

I WILL delete you, in fact, I'm already deleting Event Friends who recently have been Gifting DAILY.

I would recommend PMing me if you want to be brought out of the Decline List and confirm you understand OR you could Reply here.

Some of my Long Term Friends are on board with this and helping with the Pet Eggs.

SO,  EVENT FRIENDS,  enjoy the Rooms . . . If you send a Pet Egg, well, OK fine, I'll forward it along to my too-ill-to-play Friends.  BUT NOTHING ELSE.

XOXO ~ Dhyani, et alboom

Hey Dhyani !

I’ve been to Sequim - early 90’s -ish !!! Loved the Olympic peninsula. Will you drive to Olympia or Seattle? Hope dad receives the best care and soonest after is on the mend.
Did the campground at that long -what’s the name- spit. Toured around. Ate great prawns. Lovely scenic part of our world.

We WERE going to be driving to Bremerton AND Seattle, but back and forth each day.  All that has been postponed, likely until March? (when the weather will be better) because one of the Specialists in Seattle had a family emergency and has yet to reschedule.  Then the follow-up in Bremerton, or maybe is was Silverdale. Highway 101 is DEADLY, with multiple vehicle pileups EVERY Winter.  I flat out refuse because Dad will want to drive and I just can't put us in that much danger.

We'll just have to watch and wait.  His brain aneurysm is only slightly larger than last year, but it's still pretty tiny, so fingers, legs and eyes crossed.  I really CAN'T leave him alone for more than 20 minutes in case it ruptures while I'm away.  He has a couple of distal aortic aneurysms as well, so add that to the surveillance.

Now he's balking at Physical Therapy for balance issues and gait training . . . so the battle is on.  Trying to make him think it's HIS idea LOL!!! So far, it's not working.

He doesn't like to go outside when it's raining/snowing ~ so if he falls (again) at least it won't be on the road.  I've padded the sharp corners on the furniture.  He doesn't want to muss his hair, so a helmet (even a foam one) is out of the question. *sigh* I had a foam helmet for Mom, and it really helped.

But yes, Sequim is just BEAUTIFUL!  Were you camping along the Dungeness Spit?

Hey Dhyani from Dhyaniland !! Dungeness Spit - that's the name I couldn't remember, been so long. Speaking of long, we walked maybe half way out the spit and that was a long way !!

Great seafood dinner at the pub NW corner of the Peninsula. Again can't remember the place name. Wait Nameah Bay? Toured, went to Port Townsend, Ocean Shores. Loved the Olympic Peninsula. Was there early 90's so must be more population everywhere there now.

You're doing a wonderful job lookin' after dad cuz you know him so well. I wouldn't let him drive either but what can you do. Hope you get him all the care he needs soonest.  I'm crossing fingers toes and eyes that all works out for the best.

I'm swimmin' just across the pond from you up the East coast of Vancouver Island in Campbell River. Guess that means we're neighbours ((-:

datsalotta good luck wishes comin' your way

Hey "D". I will be in the car with you on your trips. So talk to me as if I am back seat.  Love the area. my 2 nieces live in Washington.  I Used to live near Portland Oregon and we would ride our Motorcycle all over with my cane bungie corded to the back of motorcycle.

As for Wonderful Dad, Just tell him you are the boss now.! It might work. My husband took awhile to understand the danger he was to others. He told me so what if I kill myself I am terminal anyway. I told him what about teens starting out, somebody's favorite uncle little kids or babies in other cars? So he let me drive but would tell me how! One day from Chemo he looked up and said "FOR GOD SAKE SLOW DOWN." I had driving out of lot to side street and was going 25mph. The end of the bossing happened when heading home long day of Chemo and tests I was turning left and he insisted I turn right, Yelled even (so very unlike him) so right I went and happened to be wrong way that could not turn around for 25 miles. Which made it 75 miles home. He said he was sorry on the way home. I said its too late for sorry I already poisoned his pudding. (that was a joke we used for years) always made us laugh. Hang in there sweetie maybe you could find out what his favorite book or favorite band of all time was and get an audiobook of it to play in car.

My Prayers are with you both. Remember to  breath.

Oh my goodness it sounds like your Dad keeps you hopping!!  I was wondering how you guys were doing so I found this thread.

Your Dad is so blessed to have you there with him!!  I was a caregiver to my ex husband for 7 of our 20 years of marriage.  With my health issues I am really surprised I lasted so long.

It's good you're not letting him drive.  People often need to stop driving long before they realize it.

I hope you make sure you get to take care of yourself and that you enjoy the events yourself.  We all need some entertainmentrelaxedand recharge time!

Sue

Hey sweetie I think of you every day and send prayers and good thoughts.

Maybe you can talk to the doctors, I am sure they will tell him not to drive. They will also notify DMV to revoke his drivers  license. It might make him mad but he will get over it. Make him copilot and give him map to make sure of route. The idea is to give him something to do to make him feel useful. Ask him about his younger life and what he did before you were born. It will be good for you and him. you won't be able to ask after he is gone. I took care of my mother in law for 18 years and we talked all the time my (husband traveled for his job.). There are so many things I did not think to ask her.

As the Family Archivist/Historian, I have BOATLOADS of photos, documents, audio & video, mementos, etc., that we DO look through and talk about . . . until recently.

Dad's soooo frustrated & angry that he can't remember names, events, etc, that we've put that on hold for a while.

After the last jaunt to town (4 miles away) last week just exhausted him, he says he doesn't want to drive until late Spring . . . because of the weather.  OK, Dad ~ it's the weather. I checked his SUV, and there are no signs of an accident, so that was a relief.

And he also has said he's lost confidence in decision making.  Of course, he also resents it, and in the next breath, somehow it's MY fault.  But at least he IS aware.

Since his jaunt to town, he's refusing to leave his room.  Recliner, bed, TV & bathroom ~ that's his comfort zone.

His world is getting smaller, and, by extension, so is mine. *sigh*

At least I have my wonderful Friends here to help me keep the last 3 brain cells I have left.
