Hi AEGram , Mare from Wyo here. I am gonna buy a new pc and wanted you to explain to me Step2 .I am not sure what the part in parentheses means about "actual PC log on acct. Is that my email address,, Big Fish acct sign in or what ? I must apologize for being so inept at this pc stuff, I want to make sure I am getting it right !! I also do not understand Step 8 ,, the part in parentheses,, about not playing in old location any more,,, what does that mean ? to not play it on old pc anymore or ??? I also do not understand Step 9,,, especially the user acct and password info ?? Would you be so kind as to help me understand these issues I find to be beyond my comprehension? I really am not tech savvy like you and would appreciate your expertise. Thank you so much for any advice you may offer. Mare

Hello Wyomare,
I am not Aegram, but in case they do not see this for a while, I thought I'd post my understanding of what they write in post 1.
Your question about Step 2:
Step 2 just explains how to find the MC game's hidden folders. These are the folders that contain your game info. Aegram tells you how to find those folders by going directly to them, and you do this by typing in the path (address, so to speak) that is on your computer. The path on your computer will be different from the path on mine, because our computers have different names.
So when Aegram says "your actual PC log on account", they mean the name of your computer. If your PC only has one account - is only used by you, then there should be no confusion. It is what you called it the very first time, and you see it every time you start your computer.
So to enter the correct path to the hidden folders, you type in an address that gives directions to the user on your specific computer account, in the AppData section. So; you must substitute the highlighted portion here with what your PC is called.
C:\users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming
(so your game files are in Users, then you must specify the name of the user, then in AppData of that specific user.)
Step 8 - yes Aegram seems to mean that you should not play on your old computer any more.
Step 9 - this step says that if you have more than one user account on your computer, and both users play Midnight Castle and wants to move to a new computer, then you need to repeat these steps for each of those users.
Many players like to have more than one game - some call them Baby Games, Feeder games etc. They do this by first creating another User Account on their computers, then create a new MC game that will be entirely new and separate from your first game. So step 9 outlines how to move those games, too.

Thank you, Hirento, for giving your explanation in my absence.
There is one "picky point clarification" that I would make....the <your user name> is not the name of the computer.
It is the name of the user account that person has on the computer.
For instance, my computer is named "TheMom" for purposes of identifying it on the network. That isn't my user name, though....which is the one I use to log onto the computer.
So, when a person goes to the C:\Users folder....there will be listed the "computer accounts" for those who use the computer. There will be one named Public...that will not be the one the person would use. There will then be the names of the accounts used to log onto the computer.
If, for instance Wyomare has the user name of Sally....her path listed on the run line would be: C:\Users\Sally\AppData\Roaming
The part in step 8 about not playing the game on the old computer anymore is correct....when you transfer the files stored in the Roaming\Elephant Games folder to the Roaming\Elephant games folder on the new computer (and this folder will ONLY be created by the person actually ...on the new computer....downloading the game to get those files to be generated on the new computer................but, after those files are copied and pasted in the appropriate location on the new computer, it is wise to not play the game on that old computer anymore.
The reason for this is the game is meant to be played on a single device. I don't KNOW if the BF servers actually know the device from which the command comes when a player logs in, but it could cause issues if you play on one computer....make progress....send the game save to the BF servers and then open it on another device. In theory, it could be okay...however, in practice, someone may forget to close out the game on one device (or maybe all the game related files don't close out from the running processes) and there could be game corruption caused by any confusion encountered by the BF servers.
Your answer to #9 is spot on. I don't have the specific instructions in front of me, so I cannot say which post WYOMARE was using, but.....
1. You would download the game to the new computer.
2. You would play the game on the new computer just a level or 2 to verify it works.
3. You would copy the files from the old computer to the same location on the new computer.
4. If you have multiple accounts, that second user wouldn't need to download/install the game because it has already been installed on the computr. BUT, that user account would also need to click on the desktop icon to get the game files to load to their AppData location so they could copy their files from the old computer to their user account.
A CAUTION.......IF you have more than one user on the computer that is playing the game (or if one person has multiple user accounts on which they play the game), you would want to be very, very, very careful to copy "Sally's" game related files to "Sally's" profile on the new computer AND be very, very, very careful to copy "George's" game related files from the old computer to "George's" profile on the new computer.

Hi AEGram , thank you for trying to help me. One thing I am having trouble finding is my "user name" I looked under TASK MANAGER and still can"t be sure of what it is . Am I looking in the wrong place? I can not find one named "public" or otherwise. I must be doing something wrong. I really HATE the fact that I am SO unclear about this pc stuff. Sorry to be such an illiterate on this. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Hirento,, thank you for trying to help me. I still can not figure out where to find my user name. AEGram wrote to me also and I am such a pc dummy that I just can not seem to find my user name. Pathetic ,huh. I sure hope I"m not a huge pain in the rear,, I do not want to continue pestering you guys , I know you probably have better things to do and are busy people, I wish I had a pc pro in my circle of friends and family, but I don"t, unfortunately. If you think of anything I am doing wrong with this and LOVE being pestered by a pc dunce, ,,,,, any ideas ?? Mare

The easiest way to find your user name is your login screen. When you start your computer - click the power-button on the desktop - you will see your username at the start. If you have a password you must type that in.
Or simply type into the search-box on your desktop: users
this will open the Users-folder where you can see all users. You will see your own user, and at least a file named Default, Default.migrated, and one called something like Common.
.
Another easy way is to go to the Task Manager, click the tab called users. You will see all active users on this computer, if there is only you, then there will be only your user name listed.
Edited to add you will only see users that are logged on.
But - you may not actually need your user name to find appData.
Try to just type in the search box: AppData
you will get the filepath to App.Data default, click it and then simply change to Users, and your name. Your own AppData file will be grey but you can click it.

Hirento said:Try to just type in the search box: AppData
The AppData folder will not show up as a response when put in the search box unless the choice to "show hidden files, folders, and drives" has been selected on the View tab of File Explorer options.
It is a hidden folder....if left hidden, the ONLY way to get to it is by typing in the exact path in the run line. IF the radio button has been selected to show those hidden folders, then you will be able to navigate to it by opening your File Explorer.....selecting Windows C:\ .......
(If looking for the Users folder, after you've selected Windows C:\ ....just click on Users (which is a folder that presents for what's on the C:\ drive.
Inside that User's folder will be the listing of all persons who have computer accounts used to log onto the computer.
WYOMARE -- Is there anyone you know who has some computer technical knowledge that can assist you?

I find the absolute easiest way to get into Task Manager is to right click on the task bar at the bottom of the screen (well, it's usually there...some people move it to the top or side) and choose Task Manager from the window that presents.
